Diabetes Care
Diabetes and its precursor, prediabetes, are major health problems in the United States. A recent study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates 40 percent of Americans will be diagnosed with diabetes at some point in their lifetime. Type 2 diabetes, formerly called adult-onset diabetes, accounts for 90 to 95 percent of all diabetes cases in the U.S.
What is diabetes?
Two Main Types of Diabetes:
Type 1 – Develops in children and young adults. In Type 1 Diabetes, the body does not produce enough or any insulin.
Type 2 – the most common form of diabetes, affecting roughly 30 million Americans. As a result of type 2 diabetes, the body cannot produce enough insulin, or the insulin produced is ignored by the body.
Currently, there is no cure for diabetes. However, there are many treatments available for diabetics to lead
long and healthy lives.
Diabetes is personal. And we treat it that way.
